Crafting Your Personal Mission Statement:               A Workshop

Saturday, November 17, 2-5 pm

SMC Studio, First Floor, Aug W. Smith Building, 174 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC

In this workshop, I will guide you through a series of exercises to help you identify and articulate the things you most want to contribute to the world.

Most of us have participated in the challenging and sometimes painful group process of writing mission statements at work or in non-profit organizations, so it may be startling to think about crafting a personal mission statement. But people ranging from CEOs to ministers, educators to community volunteers have found that the process of crafting a personal mission statement is a powerful tool that helps you to:

·      Think deeply about your life.

·      Identify your values and aspirations--what is most important to you.

·      Clarify your purpose in the world.

·      Align your daily, monthly, and yearly decision-making with that personal sense of mission. In other words, you’ll follow the advice of management expert Stephen R. Covey to “begin with the end in mind.”

One of Melissa’s former clients recently wrote “The main takeaway from your coaching was that strong leadership would come by staying true to my own vision and mission. I have my mission statement right by my office door that is in sight during every meeting and every difficult conversation. I honestly don't know what I would do without that mission statement to keep me centered!”
